The Univeristy of Bath and UNAM have signed a formal agreement that allows for a two-way exchange of masters students between the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Instituto de Investigaciones en Matemáticas Aplicadas y en Sistemas (Applied Mathematics Research Institute). The first student to take advantage of this new agreement, Ms Lizbeth Peñaloza Velasco, arrived in Bath on the 27th of January 2016 to begin taking courses in the second semester of the 2015-2016 academic year.

Lizbeth said about her visit: "Coming to the University of Bath is a new experience. It gives me the opportunity to know another culture and new people, to speak another language, to know a different education system and, generally, to develop my professional and personal growth."

It is hoped that Lizbeth's stay in Bath will lead the way to many more student exchanges to UNAM at the level of masters and PhD studies as well as postdoctoral research, thereby leading to greated opportunity for both partners.
